gamescom 2020: On the pulse of the community
Experience streamers every Tuesday and Thursday on gamescom Twitch channel in run-up to gamescom 2020 +++ cosplay village and contest online this year
As a purely digital event, gamescom 2020 will feature many conceptual innovations this year: new shows, a new way for visitors and companies to come together - and of course, many new games. What doesn't change: The heart of gamescom beats in the community - digitally too! This is brought to live through activities like the #supportsmallstreamers campaign and the digital cosplay village including the cosplay contest.
Small streams, big contribution for the gamescom community
Small Twitch and YouTube channels have recently attracted attention with the #supportsmallstreamers hashtag. Enough reason for gamescom to give this group a platform: 18 streamers selected from more than 200 applicants will have their streams hosted once every Tuesday and Thursday on the gamescom Twitch channel starting at 7 p.m. UTC+2. The applications and final selection reflect the great diversity of the gaming community: From the current "Valorant" shooter trend and global phenomenon "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" to classics like "Mario Kart" and "Magic: The Gathering," there is something for everyone. What's more, the up-and-coming streamers not only get more attention through the campaign but also valuable feedback directly from the community.
Streamers from Germany will kick it all off. After the successful launch, the plan is to continue with international participation in the fall of 2020. The complete schedule can be found at https://twitter.com/gamescom/status/1280495322440052736/photo/1
The next streams on July 28 and 30 will be dedicated entirely to cosplay.
The whole world of cosplay in digital format
And by the way, scrambling for good spots in front of the cosplay stage won't be a problem this year. With the digital cosplay village, everyone will be sitting in the front row in 2020. Three full days of a varied, entertaining online program with international cosplayers, illustrators, music acts, shows, live casts, workshops and much more! But participation is not just possible via stream - fans can also connect with the artists and acts on Discord.
And for the finishing touch, the big gamescom cosplay contest will take place online and will be even greater, more fantastic and dazzling. As customary, an expert jury will go over the entries carefully, evaluate them in the stream and then present the prizes to the lucky winners as part of gamescom: Best of Show.
