Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Andreas Scheuer opened gamescom this year together with Minister of State for Digitalisation Dorothee Bär. This was announced by game - the German Games Industry Association and the organiser Koelnmesse today. Federal Minister Andreas Scheuer and Minister of State for Digitalisation Dorothee Bär will speak on 20 August at the opening of gamescom and then participate in the opening tour. In addition to Scheuer and Bär, Dr Joachim Stamp, Deputy Minister President of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia and Minister for Children, Family, Refugees and Integration, as well as Mayor of Cologne Henriette Reker will offer words of welcome at the opening. During the subsequent tour, the political guests will be informed about the current trends of the games industry and the highlights of this year's gamescom.
The opening event of gamescom takes place on 20 August at 10:30 a.m. in the Konrad-Adenauer-Saal of Congress Centre North. The event is only accessible for invited guests and for journalists accredited for gamescom.
