The gamescom award Show 2019
The winners of one of the most coveted prizes of the international computer and video games industry have been determined: the gamescom awards in the still open categories were presented on gamescom Saturday. In addition to the expert jury's decision about the winners in another six jury categories, and the Best of gamescom award, the winners of the four fan categories were also announced, including the gamescom "Most Wanted" consumer award". The award ceremony took place in the IGN@gamescom now studio. More than 160 submissions reached the award office, which was this year once again run by the Digitale Spielekultur foundation. The first winners of the gamescom award were already announced in many jury categories on Tuesday in the context of gamescom: Opening Night Live.The coveted Best of gamescom award was this year secured by the Sony title "Dreams“. The both powerful and accessible games modules from the British developer Media Molecule also convinced the jury in the categories Best Sony PlayStation 4 Game and Most Original Game. The gamescom fans chose "Borderlands 3" as their hottest title of the year. The 2K title was also distinguished by the jury as Best Multiplayer Game. PietSmiet was chosen by the gamescom fans as the Best Streamer/Let's Player. THQ Nordic can be pleased with being distinguished as Best Games Company of gamescom 2019. The Best Strategy Game "Desperados III" from Mimimi Productions also appears with THQ Nordic. HandyGames, the developer and publisher belonging to THQ Nordic, acquired the award as Best Mobile Game with "Battle Chasers: Nightwar – Mobile Edition", and publishes the winner of the gamescom Indie Award, "El Hijo" from Honig Studios.The HEART OF GAMING Award, newly created as a special prize of the jury, won the theme of diversity at gamescom and thereby especially the focus on accessibility. The jury of the gamescom award thus on the one hand rewards the diversity of gamescom fans, whose passion for gaming unites the entire community despite all differences, as well as the efforts of many exhibitors and actors of the games industry to truly involve everyone in gaming, irrespective of physical limitations. At gamescom 2019, the heart of gaming was noticeably beating for diversity and accessibility.
